Cool On The Exterior, Warm Within
Seeing Double

And so... I turned 22.
The first thing I did? I stubbed my little pinkie toe on a stool and earned myself a swollen, bruised toe. I spent that sunday night tossing and turning, drifting on the edge of unconsciousness. My poor toe was throbbing throughout the night and at 5am, I dragged myself out of bed to rub some medicated oil on it. By the next morning, it had turned a dark shade of red, like a natural birthmark.
Other than this lil misfortune, it was a rather pleasant coming-of-age, with well wishes from friends and dinner gatherings. Isn't a nice feeling when people whom you don't expect to remember your birthday takes the trouble to do so?
And then Monday night was The King and I. It's the third musical that I have been to so far and I am still impressed. Impressed by their strong vocals, the elaborate costumes and the versatile set. Guess it isn't that much of a chore even when we were there specifically to host the media. I must say, despite the long hours and hard work involved in the media industry, they do have their perks!
Somehow, I can't quite believe I'm already 22. And my misbelief deepens when I look at my little brother, who just turned 18 yesterday. Where did that little boy go? And when did this little girl grow up so quickly? I think...I will always be a little girl at heart.
So I was trying to be cheeky earlier, telling my ma about my blouse which had lost its elasticity around the waist. (My ma has a passion for my clothes and occasionally some of my stuff find its way into her wardrobe.)
Me: "Eh ma, this top is no longer elastic leh. Is it coz you wore it?"
Ma: *Eyeing my blouse speculatively* "I don't know.. maybe I will try it on later to see if it fits..."
Me sputtering: "I'm asking if you wore it, not asking you to wear it!"
Sheeesh.
