Argh, another recruitment gimmick by insurance agencies. I know all abt the tricks up their sleeves since I used to work in one. And ironically, I used to be one of those who call up unsuspecting innocents down for interviews. Haha yes, this must be karma. The similar 'pick up' lines.."training provided" etc.. haha I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. And how would I be able to make it this afternoon when it was already 2+ pm?!
Initially, my heart had skipped a beat as I answered the call, thinking it might be the Ikea job i applied for recently. Alas, it was a false alarm. One thing for sure is, I will not be getting into anything involving sales anytime soon. The experience last yr left me with less than pleasant memories but it certainly opened my eyes.. to the real world out there. *shudders*
My internship shall end in late Oct. Sure hope I find sth good soon.. sth related to my studies yet interesting. I'm crossing my fingers over the Ikea one. Let's pray hard!
Tonight was the last of my malay lessons. How time flies..I shall miss it.. having sth to look forward to every week, my rare weekly occasion of actually turning the rusty gears of my brain. Though I've to admit, I didnt really pick up plenty, coz i wasnt the most hardworking student. Well, I'll definitely make an effort to revise my melayu now & then, and one day, if im accomplished enough, I shall blog in malay!! Woohoo!
Sth really surprising happened today though. My pri. sch classmate actually came down to my place & gave me a lift to class. To think that I haven't been in contact with him since P6, and only met up in big grps once in a blue moon w/o personal interaction.. well, i guess some friendships are worth maintaining and I hope tonight will be a good start. In a way, I was really touched that he specially dropped by, even though we were heading for the same destination.
And anyway, I'm hooked on korean dramas again. Haha my 'Stairway to heaven'.. typically a sob-sob tragic romance and this one is modelled after Cinderella (think evil stepmother & stepsis) with some twists & turns. My brain knows its silly but somehow my heartstrings still tug painfully each time the plot takes a turn for the worst. Haha i know, i cant be saved. Let me drown in my tears of kimchi & whatnots..please.
Seems like my bro has had the fever, rashes and bodily pains, along with nausea yest morning. He claims that the rashes are an allergic reaction to the medicine though. Hmm, *crosses fingers*.. let's pray for the best k?
I saw.. A shooting star!!
That was yest.. at WCP. First time in my life that I actually witnessed such a sight and u can guess the state of excitement I was in. Haha so much so that when i finally quit squealing, it had disappeared in a flash. A brillant spurt of white light that arched swiftly across the nite sky. No time to make a wish. Darn.
Other than that, it was great fun that nite. Something magical in the air..which called to us to shed our inhibitions and to stop acting like sane young adults. We settled under one of the white tents set up for the next day's ultimate frisbee challenge. That is one game i've yet to try.. though i was reminded of a fren who's addicted to it. Maybe..sometime in the future, i might take up his invitation to join him & his pals.
Anw, with our CD player serenading us, we threw ourselves into a match, competing with each other to fling our whistling sparklers to the furthest distance, with it landing heads-up. Not forgetting the lighting of candles and our mad flurry of photos-taking. The only unfortunate event was that none of our paper lanterns survived the nite, suffering a terrible demise in flames.
Who says kids always have all the fun? =p
