Cool On The Exterior, Warm Within

This must be..karma

Lady: "May I speak to XXX pls?"

Me: "Yes, speaking."

Lady: "I am calling from XX insurance. Our HR manager has gone thru your resume posted online and you have been shortlisted to join us as a financial consultant. Would you be be free to come down for an interview this afternoon?"

Me: "Erm, no. I'm not cut out for sales. Thanks for your offer though."

Lady: "Oh, its alright. We have training provided...and..."

Me: "No, its okay, really. I've tried it out b4 and its really not for me."

Argh, another recruitment gimmick by insurance agencies. I know all abt the tricks up their sleeves since I used to work in one. And ironically, I used to be one of those who call up unsuspecting innocents down for interviews. Haha yes, this must be karma. The similar 'pick up' lines.."training provided" etc.. haha I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. And how would I be able to make it this afternoon when it was already 2+ pm?!

Initially, my heart had skipped a beat as I answered the call, thinking it might be the Ikea job i applied for recently. Alas, it was a false alarm. One thing for sure is, I will not be getting into anything involving sales anytime soon. The experience last yr left me with less than pleasant memories but it certainly opened my eyes.. to the real world out there. *shudders*

My internship shall end in late Oct. Sure hope I find sth good soon.. sth related to my studies yet interesting. I'm crossing my fingers over the Ikea one. Let's pray hard!

End of Pelajaran Melayu

Tuesday, September 27, 2005 @ 11:27 PM

Tonight was the last of my malay lessons. How time flies..I shall miss it.. having sth to look forward to every week, my rare weekly occasion of actually turning the rusty gears of my brain. Though I've to admit, I didnt really pick up plenty, coz i wasnt the most hardworking student. Well, I'll definitely make an effort to revise my melayu now & then, and one day, if im accomplished enough, I shall blog in malay!! Woohoo!

Sth really surprising happened today though. My pri. sch classmate actually came down to my place & gave me a lift to class. To think that I haven't been in contact with him since P6, and only met up in big grps once in a blue moon w/o personal interaction.. well, i guess some friendships are worth maintaining and I hope tonight will be a good start. In a way, I was really touched that he specially dropped by, even though we were heading for the same destination.

And anyway, I'm hooked on korean dramas again. Haha my 'Stairway to heaven'.. typically a sob-sob tragic romance and this one is modelled after Cinderella (think evil stepmother & stepsis) with some twists & turns. My brain knows its silly but somehow my heartstrings still tug painfully each time the plot takes a turn for the worst. Haha i know, i cant be saved. Let me drown in my tears of kimchi & whatnots..please.

Dengue..

Saturday, September 24, 2005 @ 11:09 PM

Just did a quick search on Yahoo coz my bro is down with fever.
Here's what I found:

  1. Starts suddenly with a high fever, rashes, severe headache, pain behind the eyes, as well as muscle and joint pains.
  2. Nausea feeling, vomiting, and loss of appetite.
  3. The illness can last up to ten days, but complete recovery can take as long as a month

Seems like my bro has had the fever, rashes and bodily pains, along with nausea yest morning. He claims that the rashes are an allergic reaction to the medicine though. Hmm, *crosses fingers*.. let's pray for the best k?

Good old fun

My fav gals - minus one

Good wholesome fun.. is just so simple, clean-cut and enjoyable.

Met up with my dearies yest after work at Gillman Hts. Ordered in pizzas & KFC while watching Constantine with me valiantly explaining the general plot. Brought back some memories since I last watched it with him, but I pushed them all away.

It was fun yakking away with one another..catching up. I wish we can do this more often, perhaps monthly? So hard to get hold of all of us together anyway..perhaps once every 3 mths then! I'm still left with this warm, fuzzy feeling in my chest from yest... Love ya gals! =)

I Saw...

Group shot!

Our circle of trust

Our lanterns in their short-lasting glory

I saw.. A shooting star!!

That was yest.. at WCP. First time in my life that I actually witnessed such a sight and u can guess the state of excitement I was in. Haha so much so that when i finally quit squealing, it had disappeared in a flash. A brillant spurt of white light that arched swiftly across the nite sky. No time to make a wish. Darn.

Other than that, it was great fun that nite. Something magical in the air..which called to us to shed our inhibitions and to stop acting like sane young adults. We settled under one of the white tents set up for the next day's ultimate frisbee challenge. That is one game i've yet to try.. though i was reminded of a fren who's addicted to it. Maybe..sometime in the future, i might take up his invitation to join him & his pals.

Anw, with our CD player serenading us, we threw ourselves into a match, competing with each other to fling our whistling sparklers to the furthest distance, with it landing heads-up. Not forgetting the lighting of candles and our mad flurry of photos-taking. The only unfortunate event was that none of our paper lanterns survived the nite, suffering a terrible demise in flames.

Who says kids always have all the fun? =p

Back... to stay?

@ 2:52 AM

Finally after abt 3 yrs of absence, I'm back to blogging. I wonder where exactly on the World Wide Web my previous one ended up...though I deeply suspect that it's entangled in such dense vines that it can't be found anymore. Poor blog. Or should I say poor me. I, who can't seem to commit totally to something new, which might be why I have never owned a pet. Surprisingly, yes that's a real fact. I would love to though. Thought abt it a zillion times, a puppy, a kitten or maybe some tortoise with a hulky shell staring at me with its beady eyes ,would suffice. Haha I think I just can't handle taking care of another living thing when I'm having difficulty just handling one big gorilla = me.

I wonder how I can cope with a husband in future, or gosh, kids! *faints* I mean, I love kids when they are all cuddly and sweet. But who doesn't? Perhaps I should start with some fuddly tiny hamsters, can't be too hard rite? Or maybe the first step would be to complete my forever 0ngoing clean-my-room operation...
